Selling isn’t complicated and it definitely doesn’t require any sleazy tactics.
Want to know one of the most common things I work on with my 1:1 mentorship clients? Creating sales structures that feel EASY instead of SLEAZY. Many of my private coaching clients come to me feeling as though ‘selling’ is a dirty word.
As creative entrepreneurs, we are often EXCELLENT at our crafts… and less comfortable when it comes to self-promotion.
Have you ever felt this way!? I’ve got you covered! This post dives into three upgrades to help you implement heart-led sales processes in your creative business.
Instead of cold pitching in DMs, focus on having actual conversations.
Dm conversations are where the majority of sales happen in my business. And none of them begin with pitches.
NO ONE likes getting those out of the blue messages that are clearly copied & pasted. They often start like this:
“Hey! I love your content. How long have you been in business for?”
Instead of randomly popping into your ideal clients’ inboxes, focus on building relationships and having real conversations – like you would with a friend. Get to know your community, show how you can help them solve a problem, be a real human, create impactful & activating content, and watch as the “hey, can you tell me more about your xyz service” messages start rolling in.

Instead of obsessing over a lead, focus on detaching from the outcome.
Go into every sales conversation or discovery call with the attitude of: if-it’s-meant-for-me-it-will-be. NO desperate or convincing energy! I deep dive into this inside my free audio training: Intuitive Sales 101.
Further, you need to be discerning about whether or not a potential lead is *actually* a good fit for your offerings. Do you understand the problem they’re trying to solve? Can you help them get their desired solution? Do you mesh personality-wise? If they aren’t a good fit – let them go and refer them elsewhere. If you want to only work with kindred clients, you need to create space for them in your calendar!
Instead of leading with urgency, focus on leading with value.
Using urgency to inspire action has it’s time and place (like during time-sensitive launches or when increasing your rates with integrity) and can be a very effective marketing approach. But don’t let it be a crutch.
Swap your “book today before the price goes up!” captions or emails for value-packed content. Show your idea clients that you intimately understand their problems and you have a solution to get them closer to their deep desires. Messaging rooted in providing value is way more effective long term than messaging rooted in scarcity.
