A Case For Making Your Prices Loud and Clear
If you’ve been in my world for awhile, you probably know I’m a big fan of transparency in pricing: aka – put your dang prices on your website.
If you’re still not convinced, let me tell you about my recent adventure with trying to hire a Pinterest expert.
One of the marketing platforms I’m focusing on in 2023 is Pinterest. My amaaaazing VA is doing such a good job of repurposing my IG and blog content into pins. But let’s be real – neither one of us actually knows a thing about building an effective Pinterest strategy. We’re currently throwing spaghetti at the wall… and that’s not how I like to operate.
So I’m bringing in support! But the process to hire someone took a moment.
I started my Pinterest expert search by heading to the Instagram search bar. Approximate one BAJILLION results popped up when I typed in “Pinterest Manager”.
I started weeding through results and clicking to the profiles of people I already follow or anyone specializing in working with designers.
And then… I started clicking to their websites. And that’s where my head started to explode with frustration.
Almost NO ONE Had Prices On Their Website
Basically every single one of their services pages was structured the same:
- Short blurb about who they work with
- Some reviews/social proof from past clients
- Mini bio
- Brief overview of their different offerings, like monthly Pinterest management or a one-time Account Setup
Plus… a CTA to download their services guide.
And not one dollar sign in sight.
Pricing Guides Can Be A Great Email List Building Tool
But, not for your cold leads. Someone who is encountering your brand for the first time is in research mode. They are looking for: what you offer, how you’re different, and what you charge.
And they want that info to be easily accessible. Otherwise, they’ll move on to the next service provider who DOES have transparent pricing.
You’ll never guess who I’ve ended up hiring… 😉
We’ve followed each other on Instagram for a long time (so I’m warm to her content and offerings!)
She offers exactly what I need.
And, her pricing is fully transparent and available on her website. I didn’t have to dig for it. I reached out to her already knowing that I could afford to hire her and that I wanted to book with her.
You want your potential clients to do this, too!
So if you need recommendations for a Pinterest expert… hmu! I’ve done a lot of research! And, if you aren’t owning your prices loud and clear on your website – dive into your site and make some updates, sweet friend.
